I am not sure if there is something else that I need to do to get DTS working the same as Dolby Digital, as far as I can tell it should be working fine, considering that the test worked. I would think that both would work pretty much the same as the audio stream is simply being passed through to the reciever without any need for the computer to decode it. As I mentioned before Dolby Digital playback is working fine but for some reason DTS is not being recognized by the windows codecs. From the windows Digital Audio (S/PDIF) Properties I can run the test for both Dolby Digital and DTS outputs and both work perfectly on my reciever. I have my computer connected to my Yamaha Reciever via digital optical connection and have set my digital output on the X-Fi PCIe card as the default playback device. The only problem that remains is with the playback of media containing DTS audio. I am, however, having some issues with audio playback, but after reconfiguring the windows audio control panel I was able to get Dolby Digital working using SPDIF passthru. After removing CCCP video playback is perfect with no problems in WMP. Thank you for the responses, I can say that I honestly did not think to try without any codec packs installed because I am so used to needing them in Vista. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Although it does lack a little in processing power it has had no problem thus far in performing its task as a media computer. My entertainment PC has an Athlon x2 4600+ cpu with 4gb ddr2 800mhz along with a 512mb 9800gt video card. Furthermore, I have no problem playing hd content in windows 7 using Nero Showtime and Power DVD but I would prefer to use wmp as I can keep a more centralized library of all my media. I am using the latest version of the combined community codec pack which is actually becoming quite old at this point but it does not have any problems playing m2ts files in vista through wmp 11.

The video begins to play just fine but wmp becomes completely unresponsive and I have to end task through the task manager to close it. Whenever I begin playback of hd content in wmp it seems to freeze everything except for playback. One major issue that I have right now is with the playback of high definition content, mainly m2ts format, in windows media player 12. To start with I am very pleased to see many good improvements in the Windows 7 RC from the beta version and have decided to use the 64 bit version on my entertainment PC.
